"Mothers"...An extra special Sunday Tippets

Mothers...

Yay!  For being the shorty in the family...My parents and bros...

They are the ones that took care of us for so many years...and now it's our turn to return the favor.  We can honor our mothers that are still near with a note, a hug, or a kiss on the cheek today.   A mother gives love.  And most of the time it is unconditional love.  A mother sacrifices her time and talents to make her children's lives happier.  Mothers always have a good stock of bandages and neosporin...ha.  My mother and grandmother were great cooks.  I remember my grandmother stirring up divinity and fudge for the holidays and as a young grandaughter...always willing to lick the spoon!  After I helped, of course! : )  I learned to sew from my grandmother and learned how to play piano from my mother.  Traits and talents are often passed on from one generation to another.  (Hmmm..my daughters have no interest in learning how to fish!)  But, they both play the piano and can cook up a storm!  A mother is a best friend or should be...when growing up, they are very caring and listen to your problems and help with advice.  Heehee!  I strive to be the best mother and hope that I can be a fun grandma when that times comes around!  One of my fondest memories as a child was when my mother would ask "who did it?"...and all of us kids would point to the other one.  Ha.  Confession is a hard thing for a child sometimes... but, we all know that there is a time for discipline.  And a teaching moment...given by Mother.

My Mother Kept a Garden

My Mother kept a garden,
a garden of the heart,
She planted all the good things
that gave my life it's start.
She turned me to the sunshine
and encouraged me to dream,
Fostering and nurturing
the seeds of self-esteem...
And when the winds and rain came,
she protected me enough-
But not too much because she knew
I'd need to stand up strong and tough.
Her constant good example
always taught me right from wrong-
Markers for my pathway
that will last a lifetime long.
I am my Mother's garden.
I am her legacy-
And I hope today she feels the love
reflected back from me
