Fishing The MP

There was a fishing day on Wednesday...Whoohoo!  Well, let's make that a little woohoo.  A beautiful day for sure...but, the fish were deep and not too many risers...err...any risers.  But, a lovely afternoon none the less.  The Middle Provo River is nestled under one of the most gorgeous mountain ranges, the Wasatch Mountains in Heber Valley, UT.  The river is behind the line of trees in the picture and winds up through the Uinta Mountain Range (Upper Provo River) and down through the Provo Canyon towards Provo (Lower Provo River).  Most of my journeys are on this home water as it is the closest to me, being a mere 40 min drive from Sandy, Ut. through Park City to Heber.  Brown and rainbow trout reach record lengths in the Provo, with a typical fish running 18 inches or bigger. In some areas the Provo offers 3,000 or more trout per mile...

When I got to the parking lot, there wasn't a person in site...very strange...even for a weekday.  There are two sides of River Rd. and there were half a dozen cars at the other one, so I chose to try out this side.  And I had all the privacy in the world...for two hours!  Then, I guess everyone got off work for lunch and I had a few friends...So I started walking...and walking...not exaggerating...about 2 miles I went.  I found the perfect pool of water that delivered up a brown trout and that is all she wrote!  1 in 3000?  But, what a beautiful day for taking a few pictures.  Finally, a spring day of about 50 degrees!  I tried my hand at my first video...kind of a silly documentary.  Ya, a little boring, but I will post it and you can tell me how a smartphone isn't maybe the best way to do vid.  Ugh...maybe not.  I was excited to use it for the first time...You see, my original Droid had a untimely death (after about 15 mos)  What the heck?  Techology these days...So, I upgraded to the Droid X...and now I get to play around with the new features...Bear with me here...Ya...maybe next time!

  1. Just keep plugging along.... We're supposed to be at 70 and no wind today over this way and if so, even if it's for a couple of hours in the evening. I could get used to this "no jacket" stuff!!!!

  7. Wow, 50 degrees. I think that was our low here last night. Dramatically different scenery from my stomping grounds.
