The summer is slowly winding down. The last two months have been difficult for trout fishing. The water in the rivers and lakes has been too warm to safely catch and release fish. Scouting new areas and higher elevations has been part of the weekly homework assignment. There have been a few mornings that I would fish before noon and just make it a shorter day. Terrestrial fishing has always been a fun part of summer on the fly and I did have a few of those days. Hopefully, more next year! Hoping for a good snowpack this winter that will fill our reservoirs again.
There were a few good days for catching bass on the fly. It is always fun to do that. I love their fight. And it is a great alternative when you are dealing with the warmer water. Thank heavens for bass! =)

Those cookies and biscuits look delicious! I hate this weather; you will get relief from the heat quicker than we will here. It stays semi-hot through October here.
ReplyDeleteI just imagined your fly rod bending double landing that huge largemouth. The surface temps are too hot here on Smith to get any size bass to come up and take a fly- can't wait for cooler temps. Thanks for sharing, and take care.
Hi Bill! I have made so many batches of cookies in my lifetime, I finally started experimenting with rolls and biscuits! And I think that I have those down now. So, I guess it's time to start a cooking channel... Haha. Looking forward to Fall for sure! But, no more bass. I started to really like the pull!!
